Fuel windfalls can help fund relief at the pump: Poland approves excess-profit tax and announces fuel tax cuts
Reported by Notes from Poland
Publisher date:

Poland’s president has signed a windfall tax on fuel companies’ excess profits, and the government has announced renewed cuts to fuel taxes. The finance minister estimates savings of 1.2–1.3 zloty per litre once the relief is restored, but actual consumer savings have not yet been reported.
Exceptional fuel-company profits offer a way to help offset the public cost of consumer relief, though the eventual effect on pump prices remains to be seen.
