Care Could Start at the Doorstep: Ghana’s Home-Visit Checklist Flagged Over 1,100 Suspected Tropical Disease Cases
Reported by bioengineer.org
Publisher date:

In a three-month Ghana pilot, 64 community health officers used a simple checklist during 1,932 routine home visits, recording 1,117 observations of suspected neglected tropical diseases. The findings suggest everyday outreach can help identify overlooked illness, although these were not confirmed diagnoses and getting referred patients to clinics remained a challenge.
Adding simple screening to existing home visits could help more people with overlooked illnesses reach diagnosis and care, provided referrals lead to follow-up.
