Cancer prevention closer to home: South Africa’s new mobile clinic offers HPV results in an hour and same-day precancer treatment

The new Pfukani Mobile Clinic in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, brings rapid HPV screening and same-day treatment for precancerous cervical lesions into one service. The clinic offers a practical alternative to waits that, according to one of its doctors, can stretch to weeks for results and months for treatment.

Bringing screening and precancer treatment into a single visit could help more women receive care before delays or missed return visits leave them without treatment.
