Where Others Saw Tonnes of Discarded Debris, Two Mumbai Men Built 760 Study Desks for Children
Reported by The Better India
Publisher date:
Following Mumbai's annual Ganpati celebrations, which deposit over 675 tonnes of plaster waste along city shores, two local residents gathered discarded idols and recycled the material. Through their initiative, the abandoned celebratory artifacts were transformed into 760 durable study tables for young students.
This local project proves that environmental contamination from cultural celebrations can be converted into tangible educational resources for children who need them.
