More breathing room for fuel budgets: Ireland extends excise cuts through February 2027
Reported by RTÉ News
Publisher date:

Ireland’s Government will keep reduced fuel excise rates until the end of February 2027, extending cuts that lowered diesel prices by 32c a litre and petrol prices by 27c. The reductions are temporary: excise will be restored in four phases, with full restoration by the end of June 2027.
Keeping the tax cuts for longer gives households and businesses continued relief on fuel costs, with a phased rather than immediate return to standard excise rates.
