Imagine Ebola care with loved ones still in sight: ALIMA’s isolation rooms let families and patients see each other
Reported by Angels in Medicine
Publisher date:

In Ituri, Democratic Republic of the Congo, ALIMA uses specialised isolation rooms called CUBEs that allow loved ones to maintain visual contact with patients while protecting healthcare workers. They are part of a response that established four Ebola treatment centres in two months, alongside rapid diagnosis and medical and psychological care. The rooms offer a way to reduce isolation during treatment, though the outbreak continues to spread and the response needs additional resources.
Protection from infection need not mean losing sight of loved ones. ALIMA’s rooms demonstrate how outbreak care can preserve a human connection alongside medical safeguards.
