An Indonesian rescue organisation documented more than 90 Bangka slow lorises between 2015 and 2025, confirming that the primate feared extinct still survives. Following recovery, 86 were released into suitable natural habitats, though forest destruction continues to threaten the species.
Evidence of survival leaves an opportunity to protect an irreplaceable species, even though its population size and future remain uncertain.
