California automatically mailed SUN Bucks cards loaded with $120 per eligible child to families of 3.8 million children this summer, helping pay for food when school is out. According to CalMatters’ October 5 report, nearly $106 million remained unspent, with families who already received cards still able to use unexpired benefits.
